Hino Motors announced its results of production, domestic sales and exports for the first half (January to June) of 2016. According to these results, global production fell for the first time in two years, declining 1.7% year on year, to 86,400 units.
Domestic production went down 5.5% to 71,114 units, as it recorded a deficit for the forth year in a row. Due to increases in Asia, overseas production grew 20.5% to 15,286 units, exceeding its result from the previous year for the seventh consecutive time.
Domestic sales increased for the fifth year in a row, up 4.4% to 31,182 units. Sales of regular trucks also went up for the fifth straight year, climbing 4.8%. Hinoâ€™s share of the regular truck market grew 1.1 percentage points to 38.3%.
Due to declines in Latin America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, the Middle East and Africa, exports fell for the forth consecutive year, dropping 11.1% to 36,692 units.
