Toyota's engine plant in Alabama, USA

Toyota’s Alabama plant marks 15th anniversary with engine production exceeding 4.5 million units

On June 21, Toyota Motor Corporation announced that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama (TMMA) in the US has welcomed its 15th anniversary.

Established in 2001, TMMA is Toyota’s only plant in the world that produces four-cylinder inline, V6 and V8 engines under one roof.

In September 2015, TMMA’s engine production reached the 4 million unit mark. As of this date, it has manufactured over 4.5 million engines.

Along with their best-selling Camry, TMMA-produced engines are featured on six other North American made Toyota models, including the RAV4, Highlander, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra and Venza.

TMMA President, Jim Bolte said, “The Alabama plant has seen remarkable growth in the past 15 years. This success is due to our employees’ commitment to outstanding quality and safety, the support from our local partnerships and the efforts of the local government.”
