Honda is adding more models to the already massive worldwide Takata airbag recall. On June 23, Honda Malaysia reported, “As a preventative measure, we are recalling approximately 150,000 vehicles due to defects in Takata airbag inflators.”
This is following a revision agreement between the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Takata’s US subsidiary regarding the recall on the US market made on May 4.
The agreement includes all cars that were until not included in the recall which use front seat airbag inflators that do not contain the drying agent that uses stabilized ammonium nitrate.
As a preventative measure called for in the revision agreement, Honda Malaysia is now adding 147,894 more vehicles to the recall. The recall applies to 52,345 2009-2011 Cities, 46,832 2003-2011 Accords, 23,701 2007-2011 Civics, 15,938 2008-2011 CR-Vs and four other models.
