According to Daihatsu’s May production, domestic sales and exports results, total production was up 5.9% year-on-year at 72,657 units, marking the first growth in 6 months.
Domestic production was up 4.8% at 46,999 units, marking the first growth in 6 months. Overseas production, which includes the addition of Indonesia, was up 7.8% at 25,658 units, marking the first growth in 3 months.
Domestic Japan sales were up 6.3% at 38,789 units, marking the 2nd month of growth. The company’s share of the kei car market is up 6.7 points at 35.6% due in part to the Mitsubishi data falsification scandal. This is the first time it has surpassed 35% in 5 months.
Exports to Latin America, Asia, Oceanian, the Middle East and Africa totaled 0, marking a decline from the previous year.
