Nissan declares additional recalls for defective airbags on 400,000 vehicles in the US

In late May, Nissan North America conducted additional recalls for the defective Takata airbag inflators on its vehicles.

On May 4, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Takata’s subsidiary in the US came to an agreement to expand the number of recalls for the US market, and this latest announcement is in regards to this agreement.

Through this agreement, all non-desiccated ammonium-nitrate inflators for the front seats that did not apply to the market recall in the US will now be included.

The latest additions to Nissan’s recall apply to approximately 400,000 vehicles sold in the US.

The recall pertains to 2007-2011 models of the Nissan Versa as well as 2005-2008 models of the Infiniti FX, 2004-2004 models of the Infiniti I30 and I35, and 2006-2010 models of the Infiniti M. Nissan North America will be contacting the owners of these vehicles and replace the passenger’s side airbag inflators at their dealerships.
