Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Indian manufacturer and sales branch, announced on June 1 their sales figures for May 2016.â€¨â€¨According to their announcement, overall sales reached 13,190 units (including exports). Compared to their sales over the same month from last year, the company saw a 1.8% increase, beating their sales record for the first time in 9 years.
Out of the 13,190 units sold, domestic Indian cars accounted for 12,200 units, a 6% increase compared with May 2015 and the first positive sales figure in 10 months. TKM first implemented major changes to their primary vehicles, the Etios and the Etios Liva in October 2014. Along with the Etios, the company also focused on the Camry. In addition, orders were well received for their Innova Krista.
In addition, TKM having started exporting the Etios series since April 2012, the company saw 990 exports in May, a 31.6% decrease compared with May of last year and a consecutive drop over 2 months.
N. Raja of TKM (Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing and Sales) had this to say: â€œI hope that things loosen up for diesel vehicles under 2.0 emissions within Delhi and around the capital.â€
