The impact from the May 30 explosion that occurred at ADVICS’ (Aisin Seiki Group) Kariya plant (Kariya, Aichi) has expanded beyond the Toyota Group to Suzuki as well.
On June 1, Suzuki temporarily suspended its operations at three plants (Kosei, Iwata and Sagara) within Shizuoka Prefecture due to a delay in the supply of brake parts from ADVICS.
The Kosei plant manufactures the Alto, Spacia, Lapin, Wagon R and Hustler. The Iwata plant produces the Jimny, Jimny Sierra, Escudo, Every and Carry, while the Sagara plant assembles the Ignis, Swift and Solio.
The ADVICS explosion has had an effect on three of Suzuki’s six plants in Japan. Suzuki is hoping to recommence operations at these plants from June 6.
