On May 27, American Honda announced that it was adding more cars to the Takata airbag inflator recall. The addition was in response to an amendment agreement made between The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Takata’s US subsidiary on May 4.
The agreement includes all cars that were until not included in the recall which use front seat airbag inflators that do not contain the drying agent that uses stabilized ammonium nitrate.
American Honda announced that it was adding around 4,500,000 new cars sold in the United States to the recall in accordance with the agreement.
The recall applies to 15 Honda and Acura models. The models are 2008-2011 Accords, 2006-2011 Civics, 2005-2011 CR-V’s, 2007-2011 Fits, and 2003-2006 Acura MDX’s.
