Toyota Motor Sales USA issued a recall on May 25 for the 2015 Yaris Hatchback (Vitz in Japan).
The recall is due to a problem with the suspension. According to Toyota Motor Sales USA, there could be damage to the front shock absorber upper bearing during adverse driving conditions. This can cause an abnormal noise when the steering wheel is turned.
If the problem continues, the upper side of the strut rod could separate, causing the vehicle to lose stability and this can increase the risk of an accident.
The recall applies to 3,100 2015 models that were sold in the United States.
Toyota is notifying the owners of the affected cars and will carry out inspections and replacements at dealerships.
