Nissan North America has published its April US new car sales figures. Total sales for April were 123,861 units. This represents 12.8% year-on-year growth and marks the 8th consecutive month of growth.
The Nissan brand set a new record in April for new car sales at 113,429 units. This is 13.6% over last year’s April and marks the 8th month of growth. The flagship Altima (Teana in Japan) sold 28,484 units. This is 28.8% up over last year and marks the 2nd month of gains. The Sentra sold 19,145 units, which represents 12.2% growth and marks the 8th month of growth. The Versa saw a 5% drop in sales at 9,165 units, marking the first year-on-year decline in 3 months. The new Maxima, which was released in June 2015, sold about 2.7 times what it sold last year at 4,573 units, marking the 7th month of growth.
For light trucks, including SUVs, pickups and minivans, the Rogue, which received a full model change in December 2013, set a new record for April with 23,173 units. This is 6.5% up from the previous year and marks the 21st consecutive month of growth. The Frontier compact pickup saw 28.9% growth at 7,509 units, marking the 4th month of growth. Sales of the new Murano were up 51.2% up at 6,232 units.
The Infiniti brand saw 4.5% sales growth at 10,432 units, marking the 2nd month of growth. The flagship Q50 (Skyline in Japan) sold 3,670 units, which represents 22.7% year-on-year growth and marks the 2nd month of growth. The QX60 SUV saw 17% growth at 3,311 units, marking the 2nd month of growth. The QX50 (Skyline Crossover in Japan) sold 7.6 times as much as the previous April at 1,401 units due to minor changes made.
Nissan’s 2015 US new car sales grew 7.1% at 1,484,918 units, setting a new record. Sales for the period January to April 2016 were up 9.8% from the same period the previous year with a total of 524,065 units.
