Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal announced that its International Crankshaft Inc., which makes and sells crankshafts in the United States, has won the 2015 Excellence In Value award from Honda North America.
The award is given to a supplier who is recognized for their quality, delivery and value. The recipient is decided at Honda North America’s supplier conference. This year, there were 650 Honda suppliers from which the company chose the best 27 for the award.
This is the first time ICI has won the award since it started its operations in 1992. It won the award this year because of its high quality and cost competitiveness.
In addition to its ICI crankshaft business the US, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal also has operations in Japan, China and India. Currently, it produces 12,300,000 crankshafts per year all around the world and it holds 10% of the share. By last year, it had sold a total of 200,000,000 crankshafts worldwide. It expects growth due to the development of the automatic driving market and plans to continue its global expansion.
