Nissan is issuing a recall for approximately 3,530,000 cars worldwide, mostly in the North American market.
The recall is due to a defect in the passenger side airbags. There is a defect in the sensor that detects whether the passenger is a child or adult. As a result, there is a risk that the airbag may deploy inappropriately in the case of an accident.
The recall applies to a total of 3,532,610 cars, the majority of which are in North America. None of the affected cars are in Japan.
It applies to 2016-2017 model Maximas, 2013-2016 model Altimas, NV200s, Leafs and Sentras, 2013-2017 model Pathfinders, 2014-2017 model Rogues and 2015-2016 model Muranos in the United States.
For the Infiniti brand, it applies to 2013 JXs, and 2014-2016 QX60s and Q50s.
