Isuzu's new India plant

Isuzu officially opens new India plant

On April 27, Isuzu’s India subsidiary Isuzu Motors India officially opened its new plant in southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

In August, 2012, Isuzu Motors India established its plan to deploy its new LCV business in the Indian market, which is growing quickly. It began selling the D-Max and MU-7 pickups as imports in March, 2013.

Starting full production in India is part of the company’s plan to further expand its sales network and local production system to boost business in India.

Three hundred people were at the official opening including Isuzu president Masanori Katayama, Andhra Pradesh governor Chandrababu Naidu and Japanese ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu.

Company president Katayama said, “India is a strategic market for future growth of Isuzu. With the start of this local manufacturing operation, Isuzu will contribute to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
