Toyota published its production, domestic Japan sales and exports for March. Total global production grew 4.8% year-on-year at 842,214 units, marking the first growth in 3 months.
Domestic production was up 9.4% at 322,181 units, marking the first growth in 2 months. Overseas production grew in North America, Latin America, Asia and Australia. It was up 2.1% at 520,033 units, marking the 2nd straight month of growth and setting a new record for March.
Domestic sales were up 0.2% at 187,952 units, marking the first growth in 2 months. Sales for the Lexus brand were up 40.9% at 7,452 units. Kei-car sales were down 4.5% at 3,256 units. Toyota’s share of the domestic non-kei car market is 45.6%, up 2.6 points from the previous year.
Exports were up 1.2% at 156,719 units, marking the first growth in 2 years. Exports to North America, Latin America, Asia and Oceania showed year-on-year growth.
