Toyota recalls US RAV4 and Lexus RX / ES over brake defect

On April 6, Toyota Motor Sales USA issued a recall for some 2016 Toyota RAV4, Lexus RX and Lexus ES models.

This recall is due to a defect in the brakes. According to Toyota Motor Sales USA, there is a risk that there was damage to interior parts of the brake actuator during the manufacturing stage, which could result in features like ABS, Traction Control and VSC failing to operate.

This could cause problems with the car’s stability system and potentially lead to accidents.

The recall affects 2016 models. It applies to 4,170 Toyota RAV4’s, 90 RX350 grade Lexus RX’s, and 12,400 Lexus ES’s, for a total of about 16,660 vehicles.

Toyota and Lexus are contacting affected drivers in the US. Dealerships are carrying out inspections and replacing faulty parts.
