Nissan adds more Rogues to recall over fuel pump failure risk

Nissan has issued a recall for more Rogues in the US. The Rogue is the US market’s counterpart to the Japanese X-Trail. The recall was announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after Nissan North American issued the recall.

The recall was originally issued in April, 2015, over a defect in the fueling system. According to the NHTSA, there is an issue with the nickel plating inside the fuel pump that could result in it failing. This could cause in the engine stopping suddenly while driving, which could result in an accident.

The recall is for 2014 models of the Rogue. It corresponds to 76,242 Rogues built from June 2013 to June 2014 and sold in the United States. This recall adds 46,671 more Rogues to the recall.

Nissan North America is contacting the owners of affected Rogues. Fuel pumps are being exchanged at dealerships.
