On March 17, Akebono Brake Industry announced it has received the 2015 Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) Award for “the development and mass production of high-performance brakes for production automobiles.â€
The JSME Award was established in 1958 to promote the development of mechanical engineering and industry. Each year, the award is presented for outstanding papers, engineering, and products. Along with providing comfortable rides in the city, Akebono received high ratings for its stable brake performance from extremely high speeds and high temperature regions as well as its significantly reduced weight. These high-performance brakes for production automobiles will be equipped on the McLaren P1 supercar that was released in 2013.
