Toyota to recall nearly 200,000 vehicles in the US for defective Takata airbags

On March 2, Toyota Motor Corporation conducted a recall in Japan on the Lexus SC430 and two other models for defective inflators on its Takata airbags. This time, the recall has been expanded to the US as well.

Toyota Motor Sales, USA announced, “Toyota will be recalling around 198,000 units as well in the US market.”

The recall is due to an issue with the dual-stage front passenger inflator, which could rupture when the airbag is deployed.

For the US market, this recall applies to 2008-2010 models of the Lexus SC430 as well as 2008 models of the Corolla and Corolla Matrix.

Toyota will be notifying the owners of these vehicles and the inflator or the airbag assembly will be replaced at its dealerships.
