Honda to introduce new plug-in hybrid in North America by 2018

On February 24, Honda Motor Company held a press conference at its Tokyo headquarters where President Takahiro Hachigo announced plans of introducing a new plug-in hybrid model to North America by 2018.

As for Honda’s plug-in hybrids, this new model accompanies Honda’s release of the Accord PHV in 2013. President Hachigo stated that Honda is planning to establish the same platform as the soon-to-be-released Clarity Fuel Cell and this new PHV will compete in the mid-size sedan market.

Moreover, regarding Honda’s electrification in the future, President Hachigo explained, “Honda will make a plug-in hybrid type available for our major models and increase the number of models sequentially.”
