On February 11, Toyota Motor Europe announced their plans of launching local production for hybrid vehicles in Turkey.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMTT) is the subsidiary company of Toyota in Turkey. They are currently manufacturing the Corolla and the Verso in their factory in Sakarya, in the northwestern part of Turkey.
Toyota plans to invest 350 million euros in TMMT, and launch the first local production of hybrid vehicles in Turkey this 2016. As Toyota’s production base of hybrid vehicles in Europe, this will be the third country next to the United Kingdom and France.
The new hybrid vehicle to be produced in TMMT is the production version of the C-HR Concept crossover. These vehicles that will be produced in Turkey will be exported not only to Europe, but also outside of Europe.
Further, Toyota plans to launch the production of hybrid powertrains in United Kingdom. Toyota Motor Europe President & CEO Johan van Zyl mentioned, “We wholeheartedly put our trust in our employees in Turkey and the United Kingdom. Their skills and qualities will surely create the best products.”
