On February 3, Honda Cars India Limited announced its results of new car sales in India for the month of January.
According to the announcement, total sales dropped 6.5% from the previous year to 17,135 units (excluding exports), resulting in a deficit for the third month in a row.
The City compact sedan comprised the most sales for the fourth consecutive month with 8,037 units. The Fit moved up to second with 4,709 units as a result of its recently released new model. The Amaze compact sedan fell to third in total sales with 3,471 units. The Brio and CR-V rounded out the top five with 396 units and 81 units, respectively.
The all-new Mobilio, which was released to the Indian market in July 2014, sold 441 units. Exports from India were 400 units for January.
Honda sales of new cars in India for fiscal 2015 (April 2014 to March 2015) increased significantly by 41% year on year to a record-high of 189,062 units. Sales for the first 10 months of fiscal 2016 (April 2015 to January 2016) has grown 8% from the same period of the previous year to 161,609 units.
