Toyota and Special Olympics Nippon (SON) announced their signing of a national partnership on January 25, 2016.
Special Olympics is an international sports organization that caters to various sport training opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, as well as the sponsoring of tournaments and athletic meets at the venues where they announce the results. SON organizes tournaments and athletic meets in Japan, and they have been dispatching Japanese athletes to international tournaments, as well as training volunteer coaches.
Through signing this national partnership agreement, Toyota will be supporting the activities of SON, as well as the incoming 2016 Special Olympics in Niigata national tournament. The 2016 Special Olympics in Niigata will be conducted from February 12 to 14, and Toyota will be dispatching employee volunteers and conducting public-related duties at the Toyota dealership in Niigata for this tournament.
Toyota also has on-site business entities in the United States, and they have been supporting the Special Olympics activities in the USA, and the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles. Hereafter, Toyota will continue to support the global activities of Special Olympics.
