Mitsubishi reaches 5-million unit mark for sales in the US

On December 28, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announced that its total sales have reached the 5-million unit mark for the US market.

In 1982, Mitsubishi entered the US market by introducing three types of station wagons for the Tredia and Cordia. Thirty-three years later, the Japanese automaker has achieved a significant milestone.

Mitsubishi has released the 3000GT (the GTO, in Japan), Eclipse, Montero (the Pajero, in Japan), and the Galant in the US to date, solidifying its position in the US market.

Mitsubishi’s sales have been doing well in the US as of late. As of November, sales have exceeded results from the previous year for 21 consecutive months. For the period spanning January to November of this year, Mitsubishi’s sales have increased by 23% from the same period in 2014.

Mitsubishi Motors North America’s Executive Vice President Don Swearingen said, “The support from our five million customers throughout the last 30 plus years is a tremendous milestone for Mitsubishi Motors.”
