Glad we didn’t use Volkswagen’s diesel engines, says Suzuki President

Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzuki revealed during the financial reporting on November 4, 2015 that another big thing happened, which is related to their arbitration of partnership with Volkswagen in September.

It was in connection with the worldwide problem of the exhaust gas of Volkswagen’s diesel engine, which was also one of the reasons why Suzuki demanded Volkswagen to cancel the supply of engine products to them in 2009. After which, Suzuki switched to using diesel engines produced by Fiat Automobiles, and those engines were equipped in Suzuki cars for India. This has even triggered the relationship of both companies to worsen.

In the end, President Suzuki said, “I’m glad we didn’t use those engines,” regarding those diesel engines made by Volkswagen. Given that there had been no problems on the diesel engines of the cars in India, he stated, “This worked on Volkswagen’s favor.”
