Honda of America announced on September 25 that it will invest $210 million in its plant in Maryville, Ohio.
The investment is for establishing a new painting line at the plant. The Maryville plant was its first and largest in North America.
The company plans to deploy many types of new technology on its new line. This technology will reduce electric power and water consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. According to Honda, even though it’s the oldest plant in North America, it will be the leader in environmental efficiency.
Construction will start in December and reach completion in December 2017. The new line has the capacity to paint 229,000 units per year.
Honda of America Executive Vice President Tom Shoupe says, “Honda is committed to delivering products that have outstanding quality and low environmental impact.”
