The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US announced that Nissan North America has declared a recall on their new Maxima.
This recall pertains to a defective fuel supply system. According to NHTSA, the fuel pipe’s o-ring was improperly installed on the new Maxima, resulting in a possible fuel leak and the risk of fire during a crash.
The recall applies to a total of 5,438 units of the all-new 2016 Maxima sold in the US that were produced between mid-March and early June of this year.
Nissan North America will contact the owners of these vehicles and repair/replace the defective parts at its dealerships as soon as possible.
