On July 16, Mazda North America announced the price for the 2016 model of the CX-3 for the US.
The US CX-3 has a large engine displacement 2.0L in-line 4-cylinder engine, unlike the Japan model which has 1.5L. Just like the new MX-5, this choice was made in consideration of US customer tastes and driving conditions.
This 2L unit is called SkyActive-G. It puts out 146hp and has a maximum torque of 20.2kgm. The US EPA gives it 12.3km/L on city streets, 14.9km/L on highways, and 13.2km/L on combined mode for FF. Mazda North America says it’s the fuel efficiency leader in the sub-compact crossover class.
The base price for the 2016 CX-3 for the US announced by Mazda North America is just under $20,000 at $19,960.
Mazda North America president Jim O’Sullivan says, “The CX-3 will be a great entry car for the Mazda brand.”
