On April 14, Toyota Motor Europe announced its 2015 first quarter (January 1 to March 31) results for sales of hybrid vehicles (including Lexus) in the European market. Total sales increased by double-digits with 12% growth year-on-year to 52,200 units.
Toyota vehicles accounted for 41,600 units of total sales. The remaining 10,600 units were for Lexus models, which grew significantly by 40% from the same period in 2014.
The Toyota brand was lead by the hybrid version of the Yaris (the Vitz, in Japan), only available overseas, with 18,628 units. Sales of the Yaris Hybrid increased by 21% from the first quarter of the previous year.
Following behind the Yaris was the Auris Hybrid with 9,193 units. Rounding out the top 3 with 8,878 units was the Auris Hybrid Touring Sport, the hybrid version of the Auris Touring Sport wagon. The Prius sold 4,880 units.
As for Lexus hybrids, the top-selling model was the all-new NX300h SUV with 4,206 units. The CT200h finished in second and the IS300h in third with 2,539 and 2,087 units, respectively.
