On February 10, the selection committee for World Car of the Year (WCOTY) announced its 10 finalists for the 2015 World Performance Car award.
The World Performance Car is one of the individual award categories for World Car of the Year. The car with the best performance from new models that debuted between the fall of 2013 and fall of 2014 will be selected for the award.
To be eligible, the vehicle must be produced and sold between January 2014 and the end of May 2015, and is available to markets in at least two continents. In other words, models that are produced exclusively for Europe, North America or Japan do not qualify for selection. The selection committee consists of 75 journalists from over 22 countries around the world.
Here are the 10 finalists for the 2015 World Performance Car:
Bentley Continental GT Speed
BMW M4 Coupe/M3 Sedan
Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
Jaguar F-Type R Coupe
Lexus RC F
Mercedes AMG GT
Audi dominated this category with three models ranking within the top 10. On the other hand, the Lexus RC F was the only Japanese car to be selected amongst the finalists.
The 2015 World Performance Car will be announced at the New York International Auto Show this April. Last year’s winner of the award was the Porsche 911 GT3.
