FC Bus equipped with Toyota Fuel Cell System (TFCS)

Toyota, Hino fuel cell bus to hit the streets of Toyota City

Toyota Motor Corporation and Hino Motors developed a bus equipped with the Toyota Fuel Cell System (TFCS). This fuel cell bus is scheduled to service the Toyota Oiden bus route in Toyota City starting January 9.

The TFCS, a system that integrates fuel cell and hybrid technologies, has been developed for the Mirai Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV). The FC bus is equipped with eight high-pressure hydrogen tanks, two fuel cell stacks, and two motors to increase the output. The bus also features the Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) Power System, taking advantage of the improvements made via verification and validation tests conducted since November 2013.

Through commercial operation on fixed routes on public roads, Toyota and Hino will verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the said fuel cell bus; the results will be given to R&D to further its development. The hydrogen fueling of the bus will be carried out at Toyota Ecoful Town under the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
