Tokyo Gas announced that they have set the selling price of hydrogen for fuel cell vehicles (FCV) at 1,100 yen per kilo (excluding tax).
Iwatani has also set their selling price of hydrogen at 1,100 yen per kilo, while JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation has set it at 1,000 yen per kilo.
In December 2014, Tokyo Gas opened their Nerima Hydrogen Station in Nerima, Tokyo. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy has examined the selling price of hydrogen. As stated in the “Strategic Road Map for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells” published in June 2014, the selling price in 2015 is equal or less than the fuel costs of gasoline vehicles, while the selling price in 2020 is equal or less than the fuel costs of hybrid vehicles.
Taking into consideration the cost performance of FCV users, the selling price of hydrogen for FCVs and hybrids has been set to the same standard as the selling price of gasoline.
