HondaJet makes its Japan premiere with compact HF120 engine

One thing that sets the HondaJet apart from other business jets is that its engine is placed above the wings. This unique style is possible solely because of the HondaJet’s small size and the engine’s low weight.

The HF120 engine that the HondaJet’s equipped with was built by GE Honda Aero Engines, a joint enterprise between Honda and General Electric.

At a recent press conference, the company displayed one of these engines. It was so small it seemed like a full-sized truck engine would be bigger. While it’s certainly compact, it’s also quiet, fuel efficient and great in terms of emissions. Of course, it can also do basically what any other modern-day airplane engine can do.
