Mazda is releasing a special Launch Edition of its MX-5 Miata RF to commemorate the anniversary of its release. The Launch Edition is limited to 1,000 and Mazda is starting by offering it to its most valued customers.
On August 24, Toyota Gosei announced that its Mexican subsidiary, Toyota Gosei Automotive Sealing Mexico (TGASMX) will increase its production capacity of weather strips by 1.5 times its current level by 2020 in response to the expanding automobile production in North America.
At the end of August, Nissan North America reported its July US new car sales figures. Total sales set a new record for July at 132,475 units. This represents 1.2% year-on-year growth and marks the 2nd month of year-on-year growth.
At the beginning of August, Toyota USA published its July US new car sales figures. Total sales were 214,233 units. This is 1.4% down from the previous year's July and marks the 3rd consecutive month of year-on-year decline.

On August 9, Infiniti announced its sales results for the European market for July 2016. According to these results, overall sales were 1,235 units, marking a record high for the month of January and almost tripling its figures from the previous year.
In early August, Honda’s luxury brand for overseas, Acura announced its sales results for July 2016 in the US. According to these results, overall sales declined 8.3% year on year, to 13,674 units, recording a deficit for the third straight month.
